OUR STORY
A conviction born from personal experience
It all began with a personal story. At the age of three, an accident left visible scars on the
skin of its founder. Growing up, she faced persistent skin problems in
an environment where light skin is often perceived as the ideal of beauty—teasing, insecurities,
inappropriate solutions became her daily reality.
A conviction was born: while it is impossible to erase certain scars, it is out of the question to let
other skin problems compromise what remains healthy. This personal quest became an obsession, then
a mission:
To understand Black skin. To care for it. To respect it.
In 2017, participation in the Alassane Ouattara Prize for Emerging Young Entrepreneurs—organized by the District
of Abidjan under the authority of the current Prime Minister, then Governor—provided the first step in
development. The 5 million CFA franc grant received on this occasion was the starting point of an
entrepreneurial adventure that now employs around thirty people, operates two boutiques, a production site, and an R&D cultivation site.
SUB SAHARIAN has a clear ambition: to offer natural, effective cosmetic solutions adapted to Black skin, without resorting to bleaching or
harsh products.
In a context where many women resort to dangerous skin-lightening practices,
SUB SAHARIAN BIO offers a new answer: that of an embraced beauty, rooted
in African realities and supported by dermocosmetic science. With proven results. The company draws on the richness of African plants to develop products that repair, protect, and enhance the skin—without transforming it.
